As you probably know already, I’m the biggest fragrance fanatic and adore discussing different scents and notes.  If you missed my blogpost titled “Deciphering the Language of Scent” which has everything you need to know about fragrance including how to tell which notes are in a scent and ways to determine which fragrance category a perfume is in, you can catch it HERE.

These are 4 new in scents which I’ve added to my collection recently:

Ferragamo – Amo Ferragamo Eau de Parfum

This perfume ticks a lot of boxes for me.  It’s really unusual with very distinctive layers.  It’s one of those fragrances which needs to develop on your skin.

At first spray, it’s very citrus-y but slowly the vanilla starts to come through and then finally the sandalwood, giving it a slightly woodier smell then you’d first expect.  The longer I wear it, the more I like it, which I think is a great quality in a perfume.

This is most suited to autumn and winter months as it’s such a full bodied fragrance.

Ruth Mastenbroek – Firedance Eau de Parfum

If you’re an Oudh fan, this is the scent for you.  Being totally honest, I don’t like Oudh, I find it drowns out every other note but I know there are plenty of people who adore it.  Even though this particular fragrance isn’t to my taste, I can still appreciate it’s distinctive smell.  It’s a very rich and intoxicating scent which lasts all day.

I definitely think Ruth Mastenbroek is a brand worth knowing about, especially if you like to wear something unusual and unique.  All her fragrances are handmade in the UK and there is definitely an air of quality to this boutique brand.

Fragonard – Violette Eau de Toilette

When I saw this on the shelves of Marks & Spencer’s fragrance section I knew I had to have it.  I am a massive violet fan.  I love Parma Violet sweeties, violet cream chocolates and pretty much anything violet scented.  I did a full blogpost called “Discovering the Best Violet Perfume” which you can catch HERE.  I wanted to try this purely to see how it would rank in the violet perfume stakes!

This is a really lovely scent.  It’s the perfect blend of powdery and floral.  I’d describe it as a light and beautiful fragrance, however, it lasts about 15 minutes on the skin before it disintegrates away into nothingness.  I just wish it had better lasting power.

Roger & Gallet – Feuille de Figuier Fragrant Wellbeing Water

I was really excited to see this recent launch from Roger & Gallet, who are one of my favourite fragrance houses.  This is a newer and fresher take on their much loved scent, Fleur de Figuier.  Fleur de Figuier is one of the few fruity fragrances I really like.  Having said that, it’s quite a full on and sweet scent.

This on on the other hand, still has the fruitiness but without the overtly sweet kick.  It’s crisp and leafy undertones makes it the ideal summer city scent.  I’ve been wearing this a lot this summer.
