I FINALLY have my hands on some Laduree makeup and beauty! You have no idea how long I’ve been dreaming of owning some of this gorgeous and elusive line. It’s sold exclusively in parts of Asia (China, Hong Kong and Japan) and a few select Sephora stores in Paris. Although despite Paris being just across the pond, for some reason, it’s considerably more expensive in Paris than Asia.
I asked a number of fellow beauty bloggers and beauty addict friends if they’d tried any of the Laduree beauty products and if they had any recommendations but came back with nothing. As I browsed the Laduree concession, I really had no idea what to pick up, so I ended up with a rather eclectic selection!
The Mattes colour range is quite limited and they’re all very subtle shades of pinks or nude which fits in with Laduree’s feminine branding. I went for shade 5 which is very pretty pink tone.
The first thing to say is this isn’t like a matte finish we’ve come to know and now expect when a lip product uses the term “matte”. I would say it’s much more of a satin finish. Finish aside it does have a lovely, creamy texture and is comfortable to wear. I found the colour to be more of an icy pink on then it appeared in the bullet or when I tested it on my hand in store. So if you do decide to get yourself one of these make sure you properly test the colour so there are no surprises!
I was surprised by how bold the Lip Stains were compared with the Mattes selection. I went for a very non-me colour but thought it’d be fun to do something different, as I’m usually not a very berry-toned lip kinda girl! I’d happily repurchase this in all shades. The colour payoff is just right, it feels very moisturising and I love the finish, it really gives the appearance of plump and luscious lips. Even this berry tone which was a risk purchase is the perfect, wearable shade.
This couldn’t be more up street! Violet is my favourite scent of all time and this smell good enough to eat. I’m not going to lie and say it’s the best shampoo I’ve ever used, but to be fair it’s not bad either. I naturally have quite oily hair and this gives me a couple of days between washes which is pretty good for me. BUT what I really love about this is the scent sticks around, two days later my hair still smells of violets.
Again, like the shampoo, the delicious scent makes this a conditioner to be reckoned with. I’m already panicking about not having hair that smells like sweeties anymore!
Shopping in Hong Kong is very promotions based, so there’s lots of gift with purchase options which I’m a sucker for. Originally I only picked up Matte Rouge lipstick, Violet shampoo and conditioner but I was told if I spent another 130 HKD I would get a mini gift which of course I had to have! That’s when I decided to get (my now favourite) Lip Stain as well.
My freebie gift included 3 mini products; the Powder Cheek Colour, UV Protection Makeup Base and Facial Water. Honestly, none of these were particularly stand out products. The Facial Water was a fairly non-descript product and didn’t really do a lot. The powder had super sweet packaging and came with an adorable mini pouffe! However, the product was just way too glittery for me and too much of princess pink (I had shade 2). Lastly, the makeup base with SPF 50 was by far the best of the bunch. This stuff smells incredible, it has to be the nicest smelling primer ever! Just one word of warning with this, you need to give it 5 minutes after application to allow it to sink into the skin and create an even base. This would work best during the winter months as it’s a touch oily, so probably best on dry skin.
