A lot like fashion, I’m always on the hunt for up and coming beauty labels.  Often it is these young, boutique beauty brands which push the industry forward with their unique formulas and outside the box thinking.

My go-to place when I’m on the hunt for the latest and hottest beauty brands is the Liberty Beauty Hall.  They champion new talent more than any other major retailer.  Not only do they provide niche brands a platform to gain major exposure but it’s also wonderful for the end consumer, like you and I.  It provides us with more choice and means we’re not permanently seeing the same old beauty giants on the shelves over and over again.

I thought I’d do a quick rundown of a few of the newest names added to the Libery Beauty Hall roster.  A few of them have already become my holy grail products.

Le Labo – Body Lotion Hinoki

Technically this isn’t a “new” brand, although I’d still refer to it as niche, as it’s not necessarily a household name (although it should be!).

I was very late to the Le Labo party after only discovering it this year but now I have, I’m completely obsessed.  Their fragrances are out of this world.  Not only do they smell divine but they also have incredible staying power.  Yes, they are pricey but you only need the tiniest amount and the scent lingers all day.

I was delighted to finally get to try some of their body care and it didn’t disappoint.  This body cream is gorgeous.  It’s incredibly hydrating but still melts into the skin with ease.  It has a plant based formula and is made with avocado oil (to repair), sweet almond oil (to soothe), coconut oil (to hydrate) and is also paraben-free and artificial colourant free.

I will definitely be repurchasing this when it runs out.

Votary – Blemish Rescue Oil

Votary is a British brand.  It harnesses the natural power of plant oils which don’t sit on the surface of the skin in the same way creams or man-made mineral oils do.

I have to be honest this is one of those products I looked at and thought, this isn’t going to work.  It’s unlike any spot treatment I’d previously seen and I struggled to see how adding oil to an angry belmish would diffuse it.  I’m usually a big fan of the Mario Badescu Drying Lotion which is my go-to when I get spots (read a full review HERE).

According to Blemish Rescue Oil blemishes disappear much faster if you don’t dry them out.  This concentrate of salicylic acid and anti-inflammatory tamanu oil is specifically developed to dissolve dead skin cells and improve blemish recovery time.

I definitely felt using this improved recovery time but I also found in the short term it made my blemishes appear much angrier and redder.

London Labs Skincare for Hair – Hair Moisturiser

I absolutely love the premise behind Skincare for Hair.  They focus on this idea that we cleanse, tone, exfoliate and mask our skin on a daily basis but we completely neglect our hair in comparison.  After 5 years in development, this brand merges skincare science with haircare to create a simplified but effective daily haircare regime.

In a nutshell, the Hair Moisturiser does for your hair what face cream does for your skin.  It gives both the scalp and hair a good ‘drink’, and helps to make styling a breeze by taming flyaways and replenishing shine.

Originally, I was quite nervous to try this product as I have naturally very oily hair.  However, it’s totally weightless and doesn’t leave behind a film or any greasiness.  I like this product so much that I’m planning on buying the rest of the products in the line too, as I’m totally sold on it.

Lixir – Universal Emulsion

Lixir is making a real stir in the beauty world at the moment.  Founded by Colette Haydon, who has been influential in the formulation of a number of best-selling skin care products for a number of high profile beauty brands, and is regarded as one of the leading creative experts in the industry.

Lixir focuses on the idea less is more when it comes to skincare.  A good formula should do it all.  The aim of Lixir is to streamline your skincare regime.

The Universal Emulsion is a day moisturiser, night cream, SPF and serum base all in one.  I really like how this feels on the skin.  It leaves a dewy and velvety finish which is perfect under makeup.  The only negative, if I’m picking at straws, is I’m not crazy about the heavy scent as I don’t like my face products to be overly fragrant.  Having said that, this is definitely one I’d repurchase, simply as it’s a product which covers so many bases.

The Lost Explorer – Everyday Support Balm

The Lost Explorer is a natural wellness range to provide sufficient preparation for modern life’s daily adventures. It features formulas to support, protect and nourish active skin.

The Everyday Support Balm is formulated with anti-inflammatory helichrysum and soothing calendula.  It’s a calming ointment which can be used on dryness, chapped skin, rashes, bumps, bites and sunburn.  I have to be honest this isn’t a product I would reach for on a day to day basis.  It reminds me a lot of Tiger Balm, so if you enjoy those kind of products, this might be worth a try.

Borghese – Fango Active Face & Body Mud

This luxurious mineral-rich mud is sourced straight from the volcanic hills of Tuscany.  It is naturally infused with powerful nutrients that energise the skin, effortlessly unclogs pores, eliminates dead skin cells and detoxifies impurities.

I’ve only trialled Fango Active as a facemask so far but I’m really looking forward to using it on my body too.  I’ve always been a fan of multiuse products.  Quick word of warning this does tingle and sting, so if you have sensitive skin, this may not be the product for you.  Although as a body product it might still work.

This mask instantly made my skin feel softer, plumper and more hydrated.  Personally, I am a fan but I imagine this could be a marmite product.
