We’ve reached my third and final post about my recent Mykonos getaway. After this I’m finally letting go of the summer and embracing winter. Not going to lie, I’m beginning to get very excited for Christmas!
Anyway, I’m clearly getting way too ahead of myself, back to sunny and beautiful Mykonos…
I thought I’d share a little bit about Mykonos Town which is the hub of the island. As I mentioned in my previous posts (which you can catch HERE & HERE) I stayed during off-peak season so it was considerably quieter than it usually is. Personally, I preferred it quiet, as we had our pick of restaurants and bars and there was no need to book or wait for a table.
If you’re looking for a more buzzy, party atmosphere then July to August is peak season and the island definitely has a lively vibe. There are so many bars and beach clubs, you couldn’t possibly be bored. Although if you’re more like me and appreciate a relaxed vibe I highly recommend the end of September to early October but no later than this. By October 31st the entire island shuts down and the population drops down to approximately 8000 people.
My time in Mykonos was mostly spent sunning, sleeping and shopping but visiting the iconic windmills was the one sightseeing/cultural thing that was on our list. They’re a wonderful reminder of Mykonos’ rich heritage dating back to the 16th century.
The island in general is so beautiful, it doesn’t matter which part you’re in there’s always an incredible seascape to admire or quaint and windy streets you can happily meander for hours. The island is awash with perfect Instagram moments.
One bar worth visiting in town is Galleraki, purely for their incredible balcony where you can sit with a cocktail (or two) and admire the island or witness one of Mykonos incredible sunsets.
Truthfully the drinks were a bit hit and miss. The porn star martini the girls ordered were below par but my strawberry juice was delicious!
Although let’s be honest who cares about the drinks when you get a birdseye view of this…
If you haven’t noticed already I’ve fallen head over heels in love with Mykonos. I felt truly relaxed there, everything from the hotel to the vibe to the town itself is perfect. I cannot recommend this picturesque destination enough for your next holidays. This place is truly magical.
