For all my London lovelies, this post is for you. I have discovered the ultimate hidden gem and you’re going to want to know about!
Firstly, each designer is in residence for a month, giving you plenty of time to shop. This makes it nowhere near as chaotic as sample sales held over a day or two. Pippa Store has managed to take the stress and mad rush out of sample sale shopping.
From what I understand the first day of their sales can be busy, as everyone is keen to get first dibs and see what’s available. Although from my experience even if you go week 2 or 3 you’re still going to find some amazing pieces.
Secondly, although the store on Lonsdale Road is small it feels like a luxury boutique. Everything is beautifully hung on rails and colour coordinated. There are 2 individual sized fitting rooms at the back. Plus, Pippa, who owns it, is genuinely so helpful and incredibly patient as us ladies ummm and errr over what to buy. It’s honestly the loveliest sample sale shopping experience I’ve ever had.
Finally, and most importantly, is the incredible brands Pippa Store hosts. Somehow, they manage to persuade some of the hottest independent designers and brands to sell with them. I’ve been to two of Pippa Store’s sales, one was for Self Portrait and most recently for March11.
The March11 sale is running till the end of this month and if you can get to Notting Hill then you NEED to go check it out. March11 has been hailed one of this year’s hottest brands and in many ways, they are responsible for that boho embroidered trend which is everywhere at the moment. The quality of their pieces is spectacular and simply can’t be imitated.
I’m going to be honest and say their usual RRP is pretty scary with dresses going upward of £800-£1000. However, the prices at the sample sale were up to 80% off. I shopped the sale during the opening weekend and prices were between £190 – £400 but I know the prices have dropped since then. I went with the intention of only buying one top but the selection was so wide and the pieces were so beautiful I couldn’t resist buying two!
Despite not being the biggest fan of red, I got a white one with red and black emboridery as it’s such a classic March11 colour palette. When I bought it I was really concerned I’d struggle to wear it but out of the two it’s had way more wear! I also got a blue one with white embroidery as I thought this be great with simple white or blue denim jeans.
This is the perfect opportunity to get your hands on something from this year’s hottest brand, at a great price which is bang on trend. It’s all win, win, win! I’m already really excited to find out which brand they’ll be hosting next!
Pippa Store is found on 52 Lonsdale Road, Notting Hill. I believe it’s only open Wednesday – Sunday, but you might want to double check before you head down there, as I would hate for it to be closed and you be disappointed.
